Nepal’s challenging campaign in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 persisted on Monday as they faced another defeat, this time against Canada, who won by five wickets in the third match of the series.
This defeat marks Nepal’s second consecutive loss to the host nation in the ongoing triangular series, further deepening their struggles in the competition.

With this outcome, Nepal stays in seventh place on the points table with just two points from seven matches, managing only one victory so far. In contrast, Canada has risen to the top with 14 points from 11 games.
The match, held at King City, saw Nepal win the toss and choose to bat first, but their innings faltered as they were bowled out for a modest 181 runs in 46.1 overs.
Nepal’s top order crumbled early, losing five wickets for a mere 36 runs. By the time they reached 87, they had already lost seven wickets, putting immense pressure on the lower order to salvage the innings.
Gulsan Jha contributed 34 runs, while Sompal Kami added 21. Sandeep Lamichhane, who top-scored with 49, and Karan KC’s 24 runs helped push Nepal’s total to a respectable 181. Canada’s bowlers, particularly Kaleem Sana with three wickets and Dilon Heyliger with two, were instrumental in restricting Nepal’s batting efforts.
In reply, Canada chased down the target in 42 overs, losing just five wickets. Navneet Dhaliwal’s brilliant 87 off 113 balls, supported by eight boundaries and four sixes, set the foundation for the victory. His 129-run partnership with Pargat Singh, who contributed 64, anchored Canada’s successful chase.
Nepal’s bowlers struggled to make a meaningful impact, with Sandeep Lamichhane picking up two wickets, but they were unable to contain Canada’s batting strength.
